Getting Here
Back during the Klondike Gold Rush, the only way to get to Dawson City was via the steep incline of the Chilkoot Trail and the dangerous rapids of the Yukon River. Luckily, much has changed since 1898, and you can now access Dawson a variety of ways.
Flying:
If you plan on flying to Dawson City, you’ll want to book your flight to the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, from there you can continue to Dawson City by plane, car, bus, or canoe.
If you’re having issues finding flights to Whitehorse, you can try booking your flights to Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver airports, and then continuing your flight to Whitehorse.
From Whitehorse you can continue your flight to Dawson City with Air North, Yukon’s Airline. Air North also offers flight service from Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton, so if you book to any of these locations you can continue to Dawson City with Air North.
The Dawson City Airport is approximately 15 minutes from downtown Dawson. Check with your Accommodations to see if they offer airport shuttle pickup or reach out to the Klondike Experience.
Driving:
If you plan on Driving from Whitehorse to Dawson City you can rent a car, truck, RV, or trailer while in Whitehorse. From Whitehorse you will journey up the scenic and well-maintained North Klondike Highway (#2).
Expect your travel time from Whitehorse to be approximately 5 to 6 hours, depending on the road conditions and weather. The distance to your destination is 525 kilometers (or 328 miles), with limited cell and fuel service along the way.

Bus:
Want to drive, but don’t want to drive yourself? Don’t worry! Husky Bus offers regular and reliable passenger transportation between Whitehorse and Dawson City.
From Whitehorse you will journey up the scenic and well-maintained North Klondike Highway (#2).

River:
Before there were roads, the only way to Dawson City was via the Yukon River. Be among hundreds of visitors who canoe, kayak, or raft their way to Dawson City from Whitehorse (or the other upriver communities of Carmacks, Pelly, or Stewart).
