Nurse-Lead Care

Much of the care provided at Dawson Clinical Care Centre is either coordinated or delivered by a Registered Nurse. This allows us to be able to work independently to deliver nursing care and also work with other healthcare professionals to ensure you receive the care you need as part of a coordinated care plan. Contact us to discuss your broader healthcare needs and we will work with you to ensure your needs are met.

Health and Wellness under One Roof

Acupuncture

Our acupuncture offer is based on a western biopyschosocial approach. We use the traditional Chinese meridians and acupuncture points to stimulate nerves, muscles and other soft tissues in order to modify symptoms and provide the body and mind with a little support to heal itself. We don’t claim that acupuncture can cure you, but it can be a useful complementary therapy in your pursuit of health and wellness. Acupuncture can be useful in the treatment and management of:

  • Pain
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Post Concussion Syndrome
  • Whiplash
  • Neuropathy
  • Gastrointestinal irregularity
  • Hypertension
  • Recovery from surgery
  • Low energy and poor sleep
  • Stress and anxiety

Acupuncture is offered in the context of nursing care by a Registered Nurse who can work independently but also in conjunction with your primary care physician or traditional Chinese medical practitioner to ensure that your care can continue in Dawson City.

Lymphoedema and Oedema Care

One of our team is a clinical nurse specialist in Tissue Viability, with experience providing care for lymphoedema and conditions that result in excess fluid in the limbs. Working alongside your primary care physician or specialist team, we can support you to manage your excess limb fluid. This might help to make it easier to walk, work with your hands and reduce the risk of tissue breakdown that results in leaking skin and wounds.

Come and see us for a discussion about your swollen legs, ankles, feet, arms or hands and let us help to get your skin looking and feeling great.

Intravenous Infusion and Supported Medication Administration

These services are delivered following an assessment by your physician, nurse practitioner or other authorised prescriber. Your drugs can either be brought in by you or we can arrange collection/delivery and store them until your scheduled appointment. We can help you with most of your IV infusion needs including vitamin supplementation, IV antibiotics, routine IV medications and specialist IV medications such as biologic therapies (if your drug is supported by a patient support programme, please contact your nurse from the programme to start the process).

With 1:1 nursing care for the duration of your treatment, in most cases we have the opportunity to address multiple aspects of your health and wellness needs. This is your opportunity to work with a healthcare practitioner over a prolonged period to ensure your holistic needs are being addressed.

External Healthcare Providers, Occupational Health and Insurance Provider Support

Some employers and insurance providers require blood and other body fluid specimens for analysis. In addition to working closely with our Naturopathic Doctors colleagues at Gravity Health, other Naturopathic Doctors will also often request samples to ensure that they tailor your care to your specific needs. We are pleased to be able to service most of these needs. They often need a little planning to coordinate sample shipping so please talk to us as soon as you know you need samples obtaining.

In addition to sample collections, we support industries, occupational and life insurance providers by completing medical assessments not their behalf.
