Rehabilitation

When we talk about rehabilitation, we are talking about the way we support your holistic health journey to get back to where you want to be. We are actively working to diversify our offer and in addition to massage therapy we also have access to a growing team of visiting professionals including a chiropractor and physiotherapist. Between these three disciplines and by utilising blended in-person and Telehealth approaches we are able to support most musculoskeletal rehabilitation and wellness needs.

Physical therapies for your body and soul

Massage Therapy

We think massage is awesome. We provide massage that focuses on your physical and psychological needs, because we believe you can’t really separate the two. While we predominantly focus on deep tissue therapeutic massage, we tailor your treatment to your wants and needs. So come and see us if you want to feel like your body got worked over by a steam roller or want to feel like you had butterflies massaging you (or anywhere between).

This form of massage is particularly geared towards tension reduction in your mind and body and is often effective for:

  • General muscular tension reduction
  • Reducing pain in muscles and joints
  • Improving range of motion in joints
  • Relaxation and stress reduction

In addition to massage, we use a range of other modalities to support the delivery of care. Myofascial release can be facilitated by the use of cupping during your massage session. Kinesiology tape can be used to support healing muscles, tendons and ligaments as well as provide prolonged myofascial treatment for days after your session. Talk to us if you would like us to consider these therapies during your treatment. There is a small additional cost for each that covers materials and the time to clean extra equipment.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care focuses on ensuring that your system works as it should. Focusing on the musculoskeletal system to ensure that your nervous and vascular system are moving things around properly is the key. Seeing a Chiropracter can be a really useful part of your health and wellness journey, particularly after an injury. Our visiting Chiropractor will help to get you on the right track and ensure that even when she’s not in town, your care can continue with a member of the team. Consider Chiropractic care for:

  • Sports injures (recent and historic)
  • Head and neck injuries
  • Joint pain
  • Back and neck pain
  • Restricted range of motion in your joints
  • Problems with sensation and coordination
  • Persistent headaches/migraines
  • Chronic pain

Chiropractic care is delivered in a hybrid care model. With a combination of in-person appointments with the chiropractor in our clinic and joint appointments with another health professional in-person and our chiropractor via Telehealth, we are able to ensure that your chiropractic care is ongoing and that you receive consistency.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical treatment that has been effective in treating peoples ailments for millennia. In the Western world we have explored some of the reasons we think it works. This gives us an acupuncture tradition called neuroanatomical or western acupuncture. The treatments are the same but the treatment perspectives are different.

Acupuncture can be delivered as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with other therapies we provide for an additional fee on the base service such as massage or chiropractic care. It can be useful in supporting the treatment of:

  • Pain
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Post Concussion Syndrome
  • Whiplash
  • Recovery from surgery

Acupuncture at Yukon Spa is delivered by a Registered Nurse (we are unable to bill extended health insurance for this service).

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy care focuses on ensuring that your musculoskeletal system is healthy and functional. This means that physiotherapists get involved in the management of a wide range of your health care needs. Our services focus on:

  • Prevention and management of injuries
  • Pre and post-operative conditioning/rehabilitation
  • Chronic pain management
  • Pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation
  • Pregnancy and postpartum care

Physiotherapy is delivered in a hybrid care model. With a combination of in-person appointments with the physiotherapist in our clinic and joint appointments with another health professional in-person and our physiotherapist via Telehealth, we are able to ensure that your physiotherapy care is ongoing and that you receive consistency.
